October 2011
Key to moving forward with a design was getting a
troublesome hydro line moved. There was
a line that went from a transformer pole diagonally across our house to our
neighbours house. A quick phone call and
hydro was able to come out and re-route within a week or two at no cost to
anyone. It was during this process that
I found out about the hydro clearances that needed to be considered in our
design. Unfortunately our house couldn’t
have a full 2nd storey at the back, which changed everything!
I also went into town and got acquainted with the building
inspector, Ken Middleton. He’s been very
helpful all along the way giving advice, telling us what was required for
permits, etc. Ken and all the
down-to-earth tradespeople I’ve dealt with so far have given me a lot of faith
in the process.
