December 2011
Minor refinements to a closet here or a door there and the
floorplan was finalized. Thank you to
architect Russ!
Still looking at smaller homes.
And still cleaning, bit by bit preparing our home for
possible sale.
Ibby’s Christmas gift to me was a “sangria kit” for the new
cottage. A nice glass pitcher, glass
stir sticks and 2 of the biggest wine glasses you’ve ever seen!
Between Christmas and New Year’s we spent the week at the
cottage, and had to come back for a few hours to shovel the driveway. That “abandoned” look of an uninhabited home always
bothered me – surely something to be said for going the condo route and being
able to lock the door and walk away.
We really talked about timing and finances, and decided that
it would be best on both counts to delay building until Fall 2012 (vs Spring 2012). Which of course in hindsight now was
absolutely perfect – we could not have tackled both moving to the condo and
supervising a new build at the same time.
Also had a shopping weekend to Pennsylvania with Judy. And while I was away Jaime’s aggression
reached a real boiling point, escalating to the point of police taking him to
the Emergency Dept after he went ballistic in a crowded shopping centre. Kicked out of school until January. The start of what turned out to be the
beginning of a frustrating road several months long to get him transitioned to
an adult psychiatrist and his meds reviewed.
